The Dress

today’s closetcast: stripes in spring

When I saw this dress on Topshop, I knew I had to have it. And when it arrived in the mail a month or so ago, I fell so much more in love with it! The construction is with this thick and heavyweight satin material that gives the dress it’s shape and form.

All in all, I think this will be a staple in my closet. I know it will be easy to dress up, so I opted to feature it here with a casual look. My trusty (and ancient) monk loafers are always a go-to when I want to look polished and slightly preppy. The green handbag was a vintage find.

What do you guys think of this look?

NYFW starts today! I cannot wait to see the highlights from some of my favorite designers and new pieces to covet. It will be perfect timing as I’m feeling a little lack of inspiration and know that viewing the shows will turn that around!

I know I don’t usually show any posts with me wearing my glasses and the truth is, I don’t wear them as much as I should. Probably has something to do with my stubbornness in admitting that genetics may be catching up with me! I do love these frames though, and since I have had a few all-nighters with the wee one this past week, the glasses are helping my poor tired eyes to see!

On another note, it’s finally starting to feel like winter here in California and I am embracing it wholeheartedly. This Topshop leather top is so luxurious (and warm). I had been admiring it since the Topshop unveiled its Collection starring Kate Bosworth and am so excited I did. I know this will be a staple in my closet for a long time. The loafers are from Zara. I love the unique design, block heel and hunter green hue. So different from your typical black loafer.

Just your basic pair of off white khakis and a t-shirt right? Not quite, as these slouchy pants are by the ever luxurious Theyskens’ Theory and are the softest leather. Not so basic after all. After coveting these for months, I found them on eBay for literally a fraction of the original price and seriously thought it was a scam. But when they arrived in the mail, I realized I just lucked out.

Was feeling that shades of blue complemented these best, and well, any excuse to carry my Clare Vivier bag is a given.

Summer Break

So sorry for the radio silence on the blog the past week. I’ve been enjoying some downtime now that I am done with classes and work has mellowed out a touch. It’s been great and sometimes, especially now with this gigantic belly, you lose a bit of inspiration and you just need to take a step back.

I had a lovely weekend in Santa Barbara visiting family and friends and enjoying the beautiful weather. It’s always such a treat to head down south and soak up some rays and take in all the beauty that the town has to offer. Lots of time with friends, family, visiting the farmer’s market, walking around downtown, and going on some neighborhood walks and hikes made for a great weekend and the perfect way to start out my summer!

If You’re Going to San Francisco….

today’s closetcast: breezy beautiful

On Friday I spent the better part of the day up in San Francisco to check out the Man Ray x Lee Miller exhibit at the Legion of Honor. It was really interesting, the exhibit focused on Man Ray and Lee Miller before, during and after their relationship. To top it off, there was also a Rene Bouche exhibit showcasing his illustrations after he returned to post-WWII Paris.

It was a beautiful day – breezy and brisk. I have been starting to feel a definite shift in the weather, at least by the coast, and I am ready for fall. It’s my favorite season.
