Desperately Seeking Inspiration…

After a long hiatus from this blog, I’m back! After starting a new career and tending to the wonderful demands of motherhood, I have felt a blank space where I used to post my daily musings and inspiration. Now it’s time to revamp and reboot!

This J. Crew Fall 2015 lookbook was just the ticket. While the collection was first shown in February 2015, now that the end of summer is looming on the horizon, I have to admit I am looking forward to a shift in the weather toward colder temperatures. This may or may not have something to do with the gorgeous looks below…

As always I’m drawn to the bold use of color and texture-play going on that I find as a trademark of J.Crew. I’m especially loving the mixed pattern coat in the last image. Anyone else?

I often look to streetstyle shots when searching for style inspiration as opposed to runways – it’s a reflection of how “real” people dress. I love when streetstyle fashionistas mix high and low and make their looks moderately attainable. Here are some shots from Paris Fashion Week – so beautiful. I love the eclectic mix of styles captured by Vanity Fair in these streetstyle shots. I’ll definitely be taking some style cues from these looks in the coming weeks!

Don’t you love when a pair of heels can make the remainder of your look seemingly effortless? These heels are exactly that. A simple turtleneck sweater and my basic black pants and the look is complete. Schutz Shoes was born in Brazil and the brand creates shoes that are sexy but completely wearable.

Designed in unique and beautiful navy blue calfhair with navy leather straps, these heels are one of the favorite items in my closet to date! What do you guys think of them? How would you style them?

Sometimes all you need is a great fitting blazer, an “essential” handbag, a funky pair of brogues, and a dash of gold. Am I right?

While my wardrobe has simplified somewhat significantly since having a baby – I have always been drawn to the basics. I think it’s more of a challenge to make the pieces that you feel the most comfortable look chic. But comfort, sometimes, is the mood of the day.

J. Brand jeans are my go-to jean, I have quite a few pairs but always reach for these. They are worn in at the knees a bit and have just the right amount of stretch. The blazer is my mom’s from more than thirty years ago – vintage. It’s a traditional schoolboy blazer. The brogues were an impulse buy from H&M. The bag is my most favorite bag. I picked it up from Moda Operandi and it’s by designer Clare Vivier based out of Los Angeles. Just bought another clutch from her which I can’t wait to feature on the blog!!
