marimekko lover

today’s closetcast: bold and bright

I thought this dress would be perfect for the two-day heatwave we are about to endure. I love Marimekko prints – the bold graphics on this dress make styling easy so there is no need to overdue it on accessories. The Finnish design company always makes the best prints and this Marimekko for Anthropologie dress is one of those great finds that I will probably hold on to forever. They also make amazing home goods, textiles and accessories that you can pick up from FinnStyle.

I didn’t take any pics of my shoes, they are a pair of nondescript patent leather black flats. I should have posted a shot, I wear them when I need something basic but feminine. They have this great square toe which sort of reminds me of ballet pointe shoes.

I have been meaning to put a hook-and-eye on this blazer so it will clasp, but haven’t gotten around to it. So….  this giant safety pin that I have had forever finally came in handy.

dress: Marimekko for Anthropologie (find similar boldly printed dresses here), jacket: vintage blazer, flats: Kenneth Cole (similar here), bracelents: black and silver medallion bracelet (vintage), simple silver bracelet (Tiffany & Co), faux-tortoise shell (gifted from Panama)

  1. As you are a lover of Marimekko prints, I thought you may be interested in hearing about Marimekko’s 60th Birthday:
Heal’s is celebrating 60 years of Scandinavian Design in London, and Marimekko’s birthday by opening a Marimekko pop-up shop. Read the details here:
