Sleek

today’s closetcast: modernist

I love this mod-inspired shift dress with its heavyweight fabric and lower hip banding – giving the illusion of a belt. Very Prada Fall 2011 inspired. Shift dresses make everything easy. Piling on layers over the dress doesn’t seem to take away from that very polished look. I wanted to add some edge to this, to add that illusion of carelessness. New winter boots complete the look.

Urban Army

today’s closetcast: pajama pants

These are definitely not pajama pants, but they feel like it. A hot trend right now, thought I am positive I couldn’t pull it off. I love the slouch of these pants and the suspenders that really serve no functional purpose – pure aesthetic.

Contrast

today’s closetcast: distracted

What drew me to this coat was its resemblance to Isabel Marant’s Grunge Coat that I absolutely adore. I love its cocoon shape. Also love the way long coats hang past the hem of your skirt or dress. It’s just another draw for me to wear short skirts with big oversized coats all winter long.

Oh! Did anyone hit up any great Black Friday sales? I made a couple winter ready purchases, one that I received in the mail today! Can’t wait to show these babies off on the blog! Stay tuned!

Little Things

today’s closetcast: grace

It’s the little things that can make a look your favorite and the simplest looks are often the best. Your favorite worn skinnies, a variation on a simple white tee, and a mix of vintage and new jewelry can sometimes make style seem unnaturally easy.

Haberdasher

today’s closetcast: slightly androgynous

When it doubt, I reach for a nice tailored men’s shirt and my favorite skinnies…. and of course my trusty snood/scarf/vest.
