today’s closetcast: up and down

So it’s my Friday and I am so looking forward to my first full weekend at home after our long trip! I’m hoping to catch up with friends and family this weekend – AND, the weather is supposed to be beautiful so YAY! After the exciting metropolis that is Tokyo, it will be really great to spend a few days relaxing in my quiet little beach town.

I love this old vintage Levi’s jacket. It used to be my dad’s when he was in college – it’s perfectly worn in and has this great wool lining in a subdued plaid print. It fits in that perfectly oversized way. The top I got in Japan from one of my favorite shops, Jeanasis. They always have the best knits and this top reminded me of those pipe cleaners that were used in arts and crafts projects when I was a kid – know what I’m talking about?

Neoprene Queen

today’s closetcast: heating up

Loving this very affordable version of the printed pencil skirts that were dominating the runways for Spring this season. This skirt reminds me so much of Peter Pilotto‘s Spring line….. so beautiful – but the H&M version is a touch more attainable for the masses. The best thing about it is the material, it feels like neoprene and is so crazy comfortable! Barneys, Net-A-Porter and ssense are having their sales right now – so it’s incredibly difficult to be “good” right now… anyone else find some great sale pieces?!

Tented

today’s closetcast: free flowing

So sorry for the lack of personal posts lately! I thought I would take more photos in Japan, but my camera actually broke so I resorted to using my iPhone for most of my pics – I’ll post a photo diary soon!

I picked this dress up at the multi-level retail heaven center of Harajuku called La Foret. This dress is from a little shop called L’Atelier du Savon. Gorgeous items, hard to choose just a few things as so much are adorable. This dress was just calling my name – I loved the volume, but the short hem keeps it sweet. I thought flats did best with a shorter hem.

Love for Lover

today’s closetcast: endlessly

Beautiful Lover. The new Spring/Summer 2012 collection is just so perfect. I love the way they effortlessly mix asymmetrical hemlines with vintage lace – equal parts ethereal fairy and vintage bohemian.

Jil Sander Colorblock

Loving this gorgeous Jil Sander clutch! I found this beauty through lyst.com, my new source for fashion and a great way to spend some free time, or procrastinate!
If you don’t know about Lyst, check it out! I’m still working on my profile but be sure to find me and follow me to did out about my latest obsessions!
In the meantime I leave Japan tomorrow. I am always full of anticipation before a trip that I can never sleep, hence my random iPhone websurfing! I’ll be back to regular blogs soon! xoxo

Thank you all for sticking with me with my lax postings while I explore Japan! I’ll be home in a few short days and have made my way back into Tokyo after a week of temple hopping and country sight-seeing! Spent the afternoon perusing La Foret, a fashion mecca of sorts in Harajuku and made a few calculated purchases.
For some reason can’t get this funky blazer from anarchy street out of my head! Hope to take some outfit shots tomorrow – we were pretty rained out today! Don’t forget to tune into my instagram @kirin brooke to travel along with me as I wind down my trip! Xoxo

Oddly enough, I’m sitting here in Japan feeling plenty inspired by Japanese eccentric fashion… Yet I had to share the winter collection from
australian label Maurie & Eve. I’m actually hoping to find a store here that carries them, as they sell out online almost instantly every season. At any rate, the fashion just won’t quit here and in a few days I’ll be back in Tokyo to hopefully check out some of my favorite labels at La Foret in Harajuku. Woo!
